Commonly Asked Questions
What is professional birth photography?
Birth photography is more than just snaping pictures. It is about capturing the story or your labor and the birth of your sweet baby.
What do you charge?
I am currently charging $475. This includes 24/7 on-call from 37 weeks until your deliver, images of the delivery and 2 hours of additional coverage. These additional hours can be used for the first bath, a hospital family session, or newborn session.
Will we meet before the birth?
Yes, I’ll insist on it! I think it is a must for us to get to know eachother, for me to learn of your birth plan and discuss the details.
When should I let you know if I'm in labor? What if I go into labor in the middle of the night?
Let me know when you are in labor. I will come to the hopsital when you are dialated to an 8. Call me even if it is in the middle of the night! Most women go into labor in the middle of the night. I expect it!
I like the idea of birth photography, but I’m concerned about keeping my body private.
I understand! I do not do any pictures of the waist down. With that being said, I do my best to give you as much privacy as possible while taking your pictures. I will typically stay above your head and then follow the baby.
What if I have to have a c-sections?
I can still be there for your birth. I may or may not be able to be in the operating room for the birth itself but I will still capture the story.
Do you interact at all or mainly stay quiet?
I try to be a fly on the wall. You won't hear from me unless I need something. However, feel free to talk to me if you would like a special shot, need time alone, or have a question.
Will my photos be in color or black and white?
I prefer black and white. It is timeless and it also helps hide any blood or vernix on baby and mom. Occationally I do shoot color. If you have a preference please let me know.
